"Project Runway" Keeps Heidi Klum in Plenty of Leather
Heidi Klum (born June 1, 1973) is a German-born American international superstar of modelling. Heidi has all sorts of arrows in her quiver, performing as model, television host, businesswoman, fashion designer, television producer, and occasional actress. While a native German, Heidi became an American citizen in 2008 while maintaining her native German citizenship.
Heidi was born in Bergisch Gladbach, a town outside Cologne on the Rhine in northern Germany. She entered a modelling contest as a whim and beat out 25,000 other girls to win a contract. While she had intended to work at a fashion design school, Heidi finished high school and then started modelling.
Heidi Klum quickly became a top fashion model who graced the covers of all the major women's magazines: Elle, Vogue, Marie Claire and so on and so forth. She really hit the big time, though, when chosen to grace the cover of the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. From there, it was a short leap to becoming the first German Victoria's Secret Angel, where she stayed for many years until leaving in 2010.
Since 2004, Heidi Klum has had a steady job producing and hosting the television reality show "Project Runway." The show is popular and well-regarded, and even won a Peabody Award in 2008. Heidi also has had a similar show in Germany called "Germany's Next Top Model" since 2006.
Heidi Klum is multi-talented. She paints, and has had her paintings appear in U.S. art magazines. She also co-authored her biography along with Alexandra Postman. She even sings, releasing her song "Wonderland" in 2006.
Famous for her relationships as well as her work, Heidi Klum has a child, Helene "Leni" Klum, out of wedlock with Renault's Formula One race team managing director Flavio Briatore.
Heidi then hooked up with singer Seal, who effectively became Leni's father by adopting her. Seal and Klum married in 2005. They have three children together, and Heidi has a total of four children, including Leni.
In 2012, the couple divorced after Klum admitted to dating her bodyguard, Martin Kristen. Seal expressed some displeasure publicly about that situation.
Heidi is famous for her wild Halloween outfits and parties. She doesn't need Halloween, though, to enjoy dressing with great style and originality.
Like many supermodels, Heidi has been branching out into serious acting. So far, she has concentrated on television productions such as "Arctic Justice" (2018), "Love Advent" (2016) and "Littlest Pet Shop" (2015). Generally, but not always, Heidi plays some version of herself.
Heidi is a jewelry designer in her spare time. She has designed collections for Mouawad jewelry.
Heidi also has designed shoes for Birkenstock.
Heidi has her own line of maternity clothes, the "Lavish" brand.
Somebody named a rose after Heidi. It is called, not so surprisingly, the Heidi Klum Rose.
FHM magazine named Heidi as No. 41 on its 2006 "100 Sexiest Women in the World" list.
Maxim magazine named Heidi as No. 33 on its 2008 "Hot 100" list.
Going blonde is like buying yourself a light bulb!
I believe that when you put a smile out there, you get a smile back.
Would it be nice if my skin and body still looked the way it did when I was 25? Sure. But the fact is, your body changes when you have children; you get wrinkles as you get older. I like that I have laugh lines from smiling too much.
You shouldn't wait for other people to make special things happen. You have to create your own memories.
I've been heartbroken. I've broken hearts. That's part of life, and it's part of figuring out who you are so you can find the right partner.
