Sienna Rose Diana Miller (born 28 December 1981) is an English actress, model and fashion designer who has been a fixture of gossip tabloids for many years. She appears to have quite an affinity for leather, often appearing in it both on- and off-screen.

More famous for her personal relationships and controversies than for her actual career, Sienna continues to act and does snag major awards. In the modern age, though, talent often takes second place to notoriety and sensationalism, and Sienna has a lot to share in all of those areas.

While many believe that Sienna is English to the core, she in fact was born in New York City to Josephine, a former South African model, and Edwin Miller, an American banker turned Chinese art dealer. Apparently, Sienna is a dual citizen of the US and the UK. She has or had a driver's license in one and a British passport in the other. So, she is bi-coastal, at home on either side of the Atlantic.

Beginning her career as a model, Sienna posed for Coca-Cola and other major brands. She also posed topless for the classy Pirelli calendar. After doing some television works, she got her big break in the 2004 "Alfie" remake with Jude Law. Other great parts followed, particularly a fun role as the Baroness in "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" (2009).

Sienna has continued modelling, and even branched out into design with Pepe Jeans. However, her worldwide notoriety came from her relationship with her "Alfie" co-star Jude Law.

After they were engaged, Jude apparently, and quite famously, cheated on Sienna with the nanny. During that time, Sienna herself may have been "seeing" future "James Bond" Daniel Craig. Yes, these types of incidents caused some issues in the relationship.

After the lovely duo broke up following some attempts at reconciliation, Sienna dated Balthazar Getty. Here's a hint to all you lovely ladies out there: if you want to get over a broken heart, find a Getty to console yourself with. That is, console yourself on his yacht, his private airplane, his limousines... Yesssss, it must be nice. Getty, however, was a married father of four who soon returned to his wife, and Sienna wound up suing two tabloids for printing pictures of the two together.

Later, she and Law hooked up again. By now, the public was fascinated with Sienna, but that rekindled affair didn't last. Sienna also wound up dating actor Tom Sturridge, to whom she was engaged for many years.

Sienna and Sturridge had a daughter, Marlowe, but ultimately never got married. They split by 2015 (though "remain friends").

Sienna had more notoriety than just that, however. She famously (everything about Sienna Miller is famous) got involved in the British phone hacking scandals of the early 2000s.

Apparently, Sienna became suspicious that her telephone conversations (those were the days when people still talked on the telephone and didn't just text everything) were being hacked.

She later confessed:
At the time I was incredibly paranoid.
The thing about being paranoid, though, is that sometimes the really are out to get you. This was one of those times.

So, being a clever girl, Sienna decided to lay a little trap. She told different false stories to different people in order to figure out where the leaks were happening. Donald Trump, are you listening?

Sienna then kept track of what particular stories made the press. by seeing which false stories were printed in the tabloids, she narrowed the conversations that were being hacked down to those she was having with her mother, her sister, her best friend and Jude Law (then her fiancé). She accused them of selling their conversations with her to the press, but they all denied it.

Subsequently, Sienna found out that the most notorious tabloid in Great Britain, The News of the World, had hacked into her conversations.  The tabloid apparently even had been intercepting voicemails left for her that she never received - because the paper "answered" them.

Sienna sued the paper, and won a 100,000 pound ($161,000) settlement. However, the entire incident left Sienna seething:
Everything is compromised enormously. It had a huge impact on relationships, friendships and my career.

Sienna now lives in New York - one could say that she has returned there - and takes a somewhat philosophical view of her notoriety, which she says changed her:
I feel more powerful, definitely. It changed the terms. But then I also feel like if anyone wrote anything now it would not bother me. I don’t feel like I could get the shame. I have enough of a sense of my own self and my own life and who I actually am. I don’t think I really did back then, because I don’t think you do when you’re that age, and so I just – it was just an assault, I just felt like I was being blasted with personalities that just perpetuated the behaviour that they wanted to perpetuate. It was a strange experience. But nowadays I feel relatively immune to that kind of ... criticism. I don’t feel like I am interesting enough now to be focused on in the way that I was. I don’t want to go out to a pub every night and get pissed. I don’t want that drama.

Circling back 'round to Sienna's career - which is, after all, an extraordinarily successful one - it is clear that she continues to excel. Sienna was in the highest-grossing war film of all time, Clint Eastwood's "American Sniper" (2014), and she has been in prestigious productions such as the Edie Sedgwick biopic "Factory Girl" (2006).
