Fine Actress Leelee Sobieski is Commanding in Leather
Liliane Gloria Sobieski (born June 10, 1983), known professionally as Leelee Sobieski, is an American film and television actress and occasional model who is known for her high-quality performances in television movies and miniseries such as "Joan of Arc" (1999), "Never Been Kissed" (1999) and "Uprising" (2001).
Leelee is of Polish and Swiss descent and is renowned for her beauty.
Leelee Sobieski was born in New York City to a creative family. Her mother Elizabeth is a film producer, while her father is a painter.
Leelee reportedly was spotted in a private school cafeteria by a talent scout (surely the fact that her mother was a film producer had nothing to do with it). She studied at Brown University, though Leelee did not graduate due to work commitments.
Sobieski soon began receiving teen roles in television movies such as "Reunion" (1994) and "A Horse for Danny" (1995).
The roles got better in a hurry, and Leelee's big break was a role in "Deep Impact" (1998), which led to Stanley Kubrick's "Eyes Wide Shut" (1999), in which Leelee played Milich's Daughter.
Leelee's next role, though, was the one that led to the most impact. She played the title role in "Joan of Arc" (1999), generating a lot of buzz and award nominations.

For "Joan of Arc," Leelee received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television as well as a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie.

More accolades followed for her role of Tosia Altman in "Uprising" (2001) and an edgier role in "Walk All Over Me" (2007).
Leelee has continued to act in television and indie films. However, she has cut back her appearances. Her last credit as of this writing was in "The Last Film Festival" (2016). Leelee has said:
I am just focused on my kids. I think that's mainly why I stopped...Also, ninety percent of acting roles involve so much sexual stuff with other people, and I don't want to do that.
Leelee has a daughter, Louisanna Ray Kimmel, with fashion designer Adam Kimmel, in 2009, and also a son with him, Martin, in 2014. Sobieski and Kimmel were married in 2010. Leelee briefly was married to Matthew Davis.
Leelee speaks fluent French.
I live in New York and it's the greatest city, but sometimes I want to move to the place with the porch and the lemonade and the farm.

Sometimes, taking a job is like going to a shrink or something, where you get to know yourself better.
I've never scratched, or punched, or slapped anybody in my real life.
About her most famous character, Joan of Arc:
This girl at 17 really led an army, this girl at 19 really burned at the stake by her own choice. And you sit there and you want to figure out why did she make these choices? How did she live such a life?
I guess because it feels more open, but I think being married is way sexier, because it's really like your soul partner in a permanent fashion, and then you strive for it to be something permanent, and that type of commitment and trust, if you can achieve it, is so good for the soul.
I text my girlfriends. I look at Facebook. I check my e-mail. If I'm away from the news cycle more than a few hours, I feel out of touch.
I'm open to whatever is meant to be, it will be.
I did try to get a few of those teen high-school movies, but they just didn't like me. I guess I wasn't a certain type.
Now when I see something beautiful or funny or sweet, sometimes I reach for my camera, but other times I think, 'I need to let this moment exist. I don't have to capture everything. I just want to experience it.'
I think when you're doing a lead role, there is so much more pressure. If you fail, not only do you fail, but everybody else fails, too. As opposed to when it's a supporting role and it's only you that sucked.
While Leelee likes to collect locks of hair of her co-stars, some don't go along. Tom Cruise, for instance, refused to provide her with any of his hair.
I'm a hopeless romantic with a dirty mind.
Leelee told NewsBlaze:
I think that happiness is a very strange thing. And we really feel that we have a right to this happiness. But I feel like it’s constantly fluctuating, and that you can make yourself happy. I think it’s an outlook. Having a positive attitude probably sounds like a corny thing to say, but a positive attitude really helps, and respecting your job really helps, and having the support of your family and friends really helps.
Leelee's younger brother, Robert, went to Princeton.
Leelee is a big fan of singer Nina Simone.
I’m still not very serious on the set. I mean, I can be very serious, but I can also be very silly on the set, because I work really well when people around me are relaxed. Sometimes, there has to be a certain amount of tension to carry a film, but it’s important to me that the crew that’s working around me feels happy. And for that to happen, I need them to feel appreciated. Sometimes, that just involves being like one of the kids and hanging out and laughing with the crew.
