Supermodel Gisele Bündchen Shows Us How It's Done
Gisele Caroline Bündchen (born 20 July 1980) is a top Brazilian fashion model and occasional film actress and producer. She is a "one-name" celebrity - when you refer to Gisele, you merely have to use her first name and people generally will know who you mean.
Though born and raised in Brazil, with Portuguese as her native language, she is mainly of German descent.
Gisele has been the highest paid model in the world since 2004, and currently defines the term "supermodel." Even though she effectively has retired, Gisele still earns much more than any other model.
Gisele's mother insisted that she take modelling courses in 1993. Elite signed her the next year when they spotted her at a shopping mall.
Coming in second in a nationwide modelling contest and fourth in a worldwide contest held in Spain, she moved to São Paulo for the greater modelling opportunities offered there.
In 1996, Gisele attended the annual Fashion Week in New York City and drew a lot of attention.
Gisele got her big break when she was able to handle a difficult assignment for Alexander McQueen in 1998.
Magazine covers soon followed, and by 2000 Gisele was the hottest fashion model in the world.
Victoria's Secret signed Giselle to a record-breaking contract (just about everything that Gisele does is recordbreaking), and some minor film and television parts started coming her way. Gisele has said:
To be a model is to be half actress. In the reality, I am a normal adolescent.
Leaving Victoria's Secret in 2007, Gisele remained a top cover model for Vogue and similar fashion magazines like Vanity Fair.
Gisele is the face of many, many top brands such as Chanel, Versace and Givenchy.
It's not all work, work, work for the likes of Gisele. For years, Gisele was in a relationship with actor Leonardo DiCaprio. Ultimately, she married Quarterback Tom Brady in 2009, and they had two children, a son and a daughter.
Brady, of course, has won a bunch of Super Bowls with the New England Patriots football team. Gisele is an ardent supporter of her husband, and has been known to get into shouting matches with fans who are not fans of her husband. She said once after a Super Bowl loss:
I can’t believe they dropped the ball so many times. My husband cannot f—king throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time.Gisele said this privately to a friend, someone snooping with a camera behind her just so happened to record it.
Gisele wears leather, of course, both on and off the runway. She doesn't often wear just any leather, but rather the most high fashion and high couture types of outfits. Still, as the pictures below show, she varies her outfits and has a keen sense of fashion of her own.
If everything that's written about me was true, I'd have about ten kids and I'd be married five times, one of them with some actor named Chris Evans, whose name I heard for the first time two hours ago.
I wouldn't say I'm going to quit modeling and become an actress, especially because I can't do that because I have contracts, but I definitely enjoyed it. I wouldn't call myself an actress, but I at the same time, if there is an opportunity... I believe in taking chances and living your life.
I'm a very private person. I like staying home and doing my stuff. I hate people invading on my privacy. I hate talking about my private life. You almost feel like they're invading your space, you know? I really hate that. I think that's very disrespectful and I think they should have a law against that.
I love horses. If I could, I would ride the whole day. When I get married, I'll live in the countryside, ride on horses and live among cows, chickens and dogs.
I don't think anyone likes to see a picture of themselves in a tabloid, besides a couple people who I'm not going to mention.
I think it's better when you're natural, when you just do whatever you want, instead of doing classes where I see all these other people holding back because they've been trained with certain skills or techniques. I'm like, whatever.
I cannot put this poison on my skin. I do not use anything synthetic.
I did kung fu up until two weeks before Benjamin was born, and yoga three days a week. I think a lot of people get pregnant and decide they can turn into garbage disposals. I was mindful about what I ate, and I gained only 30 pounds.
